This growth was primarily due to the infusion of capital over the stratums. In 1983, the Wal-Mart store came of age as it expanded into Sams Club members warehouse. In 1988, the first Wal-Mart supercent er was established, a complete grocery store comprising of 36 separate departments for general merchandise. By the year 1989, the Wal-Mart business boomed by way of 1402 stores and 123 locations for Sams Clubs. The rate of employment escalated 10 fold as the growth of sales shot up from $1 billion during the 1980s to $ 26 billion in the years that followed. Currently, Wal-Mart is considered to be one among the worlds best and most successful retailers of the 21st century, with some 8,100 stores employing around 2.1 million employees and associates who serve approximately 176 million customers each year. From what we know of the history of Wal-Mart, that is not interrogative sentence that it could be a perfect example in portraying how the company manages its growth by unceasingly keeping its values insight.
